Getting to the Falkland Islands is not as easy as catching a daily flight to New York from Heathrow in London.
There is a weekly flight to Mount Pleasant Airport from Santiago, Chile, via LAN Airlines every Saturday, and two weekly flights operated on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, flying in from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, England.
Mount Pleasant Airport is located 37 miles away from Stanley, and this is where all international flights arrive. There is a local airport close to Stanley, operated by the Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS) which run inter-island flights to outlying settlements.
Cruise vessels also call at various parts of the islands during the summer period, including Stanley, when en-route to South Georgia, Antarctica or South American destinations.
To find out more information regarding air travelling in the Falkland Islands via RAF Brize Norton, please contact the FIC Flights Department, for bookings via LAN Airlines, we suggest you visit their respective website.
